What this service covers

What this service does not cover

• Clean-room recovery
• Physical drive repair
• Guaranteed recovery
• BitLocker bypassing or password cracking
• Severe corruption or mechanically failing drives

I offer basic data recovery and file transfer for readable drives. If a drive is physically damaged, severely corrupted, or encrypted without a recovery key, recovery may not be possible and a professional data recovery lab may be recommended.

BitLocker and encryption

Some Windows laptops use BitLocker or Device Encryption. If encryption is enabled, the files may still be intact, but the correct recovery key, password, or Microsoft account may be required. The recovery key is usually found at https://aka.ms/recoverykey.

Pricing

• $50 diagnostic/recovery attempt fee if the drive is unreadable, failing, encrypted without a recovery key, or otherwise not recoverable.
• $150 total if files are successfully recovered and transferred.
• Extra setup, large transfers, or new computer setup may be quoted separately before work begins.

Pickup/drop-off preferred

Pickup/drop-off is preferred for data recovery work because file transfers can take time and may require careful inspection. In-home service may be available for basic inspection or special situations.
